After completing his undergrad degree in Energy Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, José Luis studied singing at the Escuela Superior de Música in the studio of Maritza Alemán. During this time he was a regular participant in the masterclasses and workshops with Francisco Araiza, Graciela Araya, Miguel Hernández, Teresa Rodrígues, Joan Dornemann, Vlad Iftinca and John Fischer.
Among his operatic roles, José Luis has played Uberto in LA SERVA PADRONA, Dr. Bartolo in LA NOZZE DI FIGARO, Basilio in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Sarastro in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE and The Commandatore in DON GIOVANNI. He has sung with the orchestras of Michoacan, the Youth Orchestra of the State of Mexico, the Chamber Orchestra of Bellas Artes, Chamber Orchestra of Minería and the Orchestra of the Teatro de Bellas Artes. In 2012, Mr. Reynoso was a finalist in the Concurso Ópera San Miquel. He has participated in the productions of La Serva Padrona (Pergolesi) and Amahl and the Night Visitors (Menotti) with the companies Ópera de México and Ópera de Coahuila, directed by maestro Arturo Rodríguez. In May of 2014, José Luis sang the role of Dr. Grenvil in the new production of Verdi’s LA TRAVIATA in the Teatro del Bicentenario in León, Guanajuato. In concert, he has enjoyed successes as featured soloist in works such as the Requiem and Coronation Mass (Mozart), the 9th Symphony of Beethoven and the Requiem of Giuseppe Verdi.
In August of 2014, José Luis won first prize in the XXXII Concurso Nacional de Canto Carlo Morelli that took place in the principle theatre of the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. He is currently a member of the opera chorus of the Teatro de Bellas Artes and is a member of the Taller de Perfeccionamiento Operístico SIVAM.
